BROOMFIELD, CO -- After an epic near-upset against the heavily favored Oly Rollers to close out Saturday night's action, Kansas City ended up having more trouble with longtime rivals Texas. It was a rematch of October's very closely matched South Central championship bout, and once again the outcome was up in the air until Texas had a solid game-ending run to pull away.

BROOMFIELD, CO -- Texas hung with Gotham for the first 40 minutes of their semifinal game, but the heavily favored New Yorkers took over for good in the homestretch. Gotham advanced to the WFTDA championship bout for the first time since winning the Hydra in 2008, solidly defeating Texas 195-113.

BROOMFIELD, CO -- Minnesota blasted out to a surprising big early lead over Texas in the first quarterfinal game of the 2011 WFTDA Championships tournament, but the resilient Texas crew battled back to claim a 141-108 win in the end. Minnesota was particularly bedeviled by penalties for the last two-thirds of the game, ending up with 44 minutes spent in the box against 38 for Texas.

KANSAS CITY, MO -- The final bout of the tournament had the 2010 South Central champions, the Kansas City Roller Warriors, fight for first place against 2009’s champions, the Texas Texecutioners. The game was intensely close for all but the final few minutes, when Texas began a 40 point run on points that Kansas City could not respond to. Texas emerged a clear victor with a 132-92 win.

KANSAS CITY, MO -- On Friday night, Texas ejected No Coast from the South Central tournament for the second year in a row; on Saturday, they went one better by ejecting Nashville for the third year in a row. Texas won by 184 in 2009 and by 105 in 2010; this time the score landed almost exactly in the middle as Texas won by 143 in a 218-75 final.

KANSAS CITY, MO -- 7SC No Coast marched into this game coming off a solid opening win over Omaha, but Texas didn't waste much time snuffing out the Lincoln team's hopes for an epic upset. For the second year in a row, Texas blew out No Coast by over 200 points in the South Central quarterfinals to eliminate them from contention for Championships.

The third straight weekend of the WFTDA regional playoffs begins on Friday in Kansas City, MO, as the Kansas City Roller Warriors host the Show Me Der-B-Q. Games begin at 10am Central on Friday, September 30th and conclude on Sunday with the championship at 6:30pm Central.

OAKLAND, CA -- This Friday, the Bay Area Derby Girls (#5 West WFTDA, #6 nationally via DNN) host one of the last major multi-bout events before the Regionals cycle begins, bringing Windy City (#1 North Central WFTDA, #10 DNN), Texas (#2 South Central WFTDA, #11 DNN) and Detroit (#2 North Central WFTDA, #13 DNN) to town to play.
