What happened to the stream???

Looks like a streaming service issue

The report we're getting back is that Justin.tv is overloaded. Trying to get word to the third-party streamer in case he can hop it to another service, or something clever, but I'm not certain we'll be able to get the message in front of the right person in time for it to matter.

Too many viewers?

They've streamed bouts from that facility in the past without a problem. Is Justin.tv overloaded with too many viewers for the service?

Give up on Justin.tv

DNN should think about giving up on Justin.tv

Please to be reading...

We have more than 'thought about' this issue. We've come up with a solution for the entire community, but it costs money - about $12,500 a year to be exact. "DNN" was not the broadcaster last night, just a channel carrying the broadcast. The entire DIY derby video community is using free resources like Justin.tv or UStream to make broadcast possible, because the volunteers who bring you those broadcasts are not always a video production company with other funding resources.

If you want a white label, secure streaming option, discussion starts here, and you can vote with your dollars. DNN is happy to provide a white label service the entire derby community can use for their broadcasts, as long as we can figure out how to fund it. Is this a priority to you? How about you, broadcasters? Discuss, please.

Thanks for the update

Thanks for the update, Mercy. Let's hope that enough leagues band together to make this happen. I think that even leagues that don't broadcast would benefit from this service.

White Label

Are there any details you can make publicly available about this proposed white label service? What does 12.5k buy and from whom?

Yes

If you saw days 2 and 3 of Champs 2010, that was a white label streaming service. It means no ads, no overload fails, our own private stream. Many of these services charge by user traffic, some charge by a flat rate on capped hours of broadcast or stream.

The service I quoted that price from is a flat rate service, and the price is for what we believe is the number of hours we'd need annually, given our data from the last 3 years. This particular service also comes with some exciting archiving tools that would make the archives more fun and efficient for viewers to use.

We could make that service available to anyone in the community who wanted to use the stream we paid for, so they wouldn't have to rely on Justin or UStream.

plz....

Uh, please fix the feed.

As of right now the feed

is working via the justin.tv iPhone app, but nowhere else. So that may be an option for some, especially with JC/KC starting soon...
