WFTDA Nationals: The Opening Bouts
After a year of waiting, it's all come down to this -- the 8 survivors of the Regional tournaments converge on Portland, Oregon this weekend for a three-day single-elimination tournament to prove who's the best in the nation. Full rosters and game previews for Texas vs. Carolina, Duke City vs. Gotham, Rat City vs. Windy City and Bay Area vs. Philly.

Western Regional Quarterfinal: (9w) Duke City Shocks (1w) Kansas City, 132-117
In the biggest seeding upset in WFTDA tournament history, Albuquerque's Duke City Derby -- ninth seed coming into the event -- delivered a stunning all-around performance to boot the top seed and 2007 defending champion Kansas City Roller Warriors, ending their title defense after just one bout.

Western Regionals: (9w) Duke City over (8w) Pikes Peak, 138-99
9th seed Duke City was the only entrant to score an seeding upset in the first round of the Western Regionals, manhandling 8 seed Pikes Peak in the first half and then holding off a furious Pikes comeback to win the opening bout of the tournament, 138-99.
