BROKEN ARROW, OK — In a battle of two unranked WFTDA teams on Sunday, March 15th, Northwest Arkansas rolled into the Broken Arrow Roller Sports venue and did a number on the hosting Green Country Roller Girls, going up 91-35 by halftime and notching a solid victory, 139-62.
Green Country had handily won their last two bouts (209-17 over Central Arkansas and 117-45 over Oklahoma Victory Dolls), while Northwest Arkansas had taken a tough loss to 19th-ranked Dallas 104-29 before putting a hurt on Central Oklahoma, 145-41.
While the bout kicked off with a 4-3 jam for NWA’s Apache Rose over GCRG newcomer Aberition, it wasn’t long before NWA began to open up a large lead. NWARG’s Mellow Yellow proved herself a jammer to take note of with a 15 and 16 point jam later in the period, although GCRG’s Syko Path, normally a pivot, showed off her own skills with a 7 point jam. Penalties were heavy on both sides, and Green Country was clearly missing their star jammer Rosie the Wrecker, who had to sit out this bout sick with a virus, and at the end of the first half NWA was sitting on a 56 point lead at 91-35.
