Whip It Release Date Moved UP To Oct. 2

Which is a week earlier than the previous release date of October 9, and also happens to be the same day that the Western Regional tournament starts. Good thing to know if your league was planning on doing some promotional events around the release date! Story here.

Two words:

Oh my.

More on the competition

Now we're up against zombies.

Ugh

I would hope that a film ten years after and far less clever than "Shaun of the Dead" would not be considered competition.

But I'd argue that they're targeting two largely different demographics anyway.

Tell that to...

Tell that to Shawna th'Dead. One of my favorite derby skaters (and people) ever.

Ten Years?

Eh? Shaun of the Dead came out in 2004.

Here's hoping Whip It doesn't get moved again. Rearranging a 3-way movie theater/skating rink cross promotional event was bad enough once...

Thank you

I ♥ zombie killin'

No no no! I was all excited because, with the date change, "Whip It" would not be competing with "Zombieland". Now I have to go see both of them on the same day again! Damn you Sony!

Also, with zombie killin' games being very popular in the gamer community right now, I think "Zombieland" will do very well.

You can see Atlanta's Sk8 Outta Compton in both Whip It and Zombieland! Either way it's a DERBY win.

i dunno

zombies and derby demographics can cross. I saw the preview for this and Woody Harrelson is pretty ridiculous!

i agree

Anything zombie related and derby are two of my favorite things. These demographics definitely cross for DDG.

Zombies are hot

But vampires are hotter. At least "Whip It" won't be competing with teen girl magnet "New Moon," which opens Nov. 20. That would suck.
