Music Sunday: Uncle Leon on the after party

Uncle Leon, the man behind the de facto anthem of modern roller derby -- no, not Don't Stop Believing, I'm talking about Roller Derby Saved My Soul -- is back with a tribute to the Black-n-Bluegrass Roller Girls, telling the story of many an after party, after after party, and beyond. If you've been around derby for any amount of time, you'll recognize yourself or others here.

Enjoy.

i love uncle leon

I was at that party and had the pleasure meeting Leon it was the time of my life even if tjs sucks

exaggeration?

I missed this event for a few reasons... including the fact that I was super sick. However I've heard a number of first hand accounts. I expected this song to have exaggerations, but instead he under played some things.

Better that than changing names to protect the not-so innocent. :)

much love to Uncle Leon

Once again, a fabulous derby jam. (har har)

And as a reminder: PLEASE stop believing, Journey was never good. Yes, feel free to send all your hate mail to me, I can take it.

Will Uncle Leon be @ Nationals, perhaps? I only picked up a koozie and some pins when I was at RollerCon, but I definitely need a T Shirt in my life.

oh no!!!!

journey is awesome!!! when i'm feeling down and all of the sudden i hear the opening notes and then the familiar, "just a small town girl, livin' in lonely world, took the midnight train going anywhere", a smile just automatically comes across my face. but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

The song must have been censored

This isn't one of those corny rock ballads. It's a true "dew drop inn" tale of a roller derby party in "Florence (Brawl) Y'all" Ky that went off the deep end. We have the pictures and bruises to prove it. You did right by us Uncle Leon.

Thanks for the mention!

Yes, Journey sucks.

And yes, I'll be at Nationals.

See you there!
Leon

Booo!

Journey is one of the best bands of our time. period.
