Just a pretty quick note here, but I have to admit to a smile of satisfaction when I saw this article get picked up on my Google news feed.
It may not seem like much, but it wasn't all that long ago that derby fans and players daydreamed of a day where we might read a derby event framed and presented in such a way in the news instead of the years of cookie-cutter lifestyle pieces we've been getting so far. It's happening more and more often these days ... and we're just getting started.

All they got was one paragraph? My hometown alt paper The New Haven Advocate used to have someone cover the first season of The COnnecticut Rollergirls, and while the articles didn't have stats, at least it was a multi-paragraph story. They even ended up on the cover once.
