What's the best way to put a high-end digital camera through it's paces? Why, take it to a roller derby bout, of course! At least, that's the conclusion Wired Magazine's GadgetLab came to when evaluating the 12 megapixel Nikon D3, which they took to a Bay Area Derby Girls bout for a field test:

ZOMG!
I don't even think we knew that they were there. I want to see all the pictures he took with his fancy pants camera!
Good choice!
Fast, unpredictable action in low light -- that's enough to make most cameras beg for mercy! It's nice to see them give the D3 a challenge it's worthy of.

woot!
my first thought was yay for fabulous exposure!! but then i get angry about the proprietary culture - i hate that none of my canon lenses will work on such an awesome body.

It looks like the Canon EOS 5d Mark II will have the roughly the same sensor as the Nikon D3 and D700. So your hate should be temporary. :)

1D-Mark III
Take a look at ^ Joe Rollerfan's ^ shots. Canon 1D Mark III, mostly at 3200-6400 iso. Unbelievable exposures with little-to-no grain (possibly thanks to some editing). I'm Joe's biggest fan. joerollerfan.com
