The Rules Committee feels your pain

On the heels of WFTDA's regional tournaments, there's been a big fat lot of discussion in the modern derby community about rules and officiating in the WFTDA 3.0/3.1 ruleset era.  The WFTDA Rules Committee just posted up a note indicating they're paying attention:

The WFTDA Rules Committee would like the entire Derby Community to know that our primary concern is making the rules of the game as equitable and fan-friendly as possible.  We strive for this while supporting the democratic values of the WFTDA.  Our responsibility is to improve this developing and evolving sport, and we always listen to and evaluate feedback. The tournament season produces a large data-set to study, which is extremely valuable for the WFTDA voters to make informed decisions regarding future rules changes. We are grateful to have so many dedicated fans and volunteers who are passionate about making the game better.

In my experience with the personalities involved, this boils down to "we hear you, we agree that there's work to do, and we're on it."  Stay tuned!

WFTDA Rules Committee rules!

Seriously! These folks are among the most dedicated of the derby faithful (and I know that there are a lot super dedicated people, but they're pretty close to the top!) The Rules Committee has one of the more thankless jobs (because really, someone will always bitch about the rules!) and still put countless hours into the development of our sport.

Thank you thank you thank you!
Rules Committee rules!

Rules

Don't take the fun out of the game by calling too many penalties. We come to see our daughters skate, score, hit and get hit. We just don't want to see them get hurt.

Thanks.
