In response to a couple of comments and a direct request, I've added some new code to the DNN site today that allows quoting previous comments in your comments. A useful and common feature that we've been lacking. Subject lines will also be filled in automatically now in a more intuitive way (though you can still change them to whatever you want).
More proof that we listen! Keep those suggestions coming and we'll continue to build DNN for your derby pleasure.
In other news, I've decided to suck it up and go to ALL 3 major WFTDA tournaments this fall. DNN will be seeking sponsorships to help defray the costs of doing live coverage. Get in on the ground floor and we'll give you the best bang for your derby-fan-targeted buck!
[EDIT] - We quickly realized that the auto-subject thing, though convenient, led to a lot of very nondescript, non-useful comment subjects in our home page "Discussions" box. So that's disabled now. You'll have to type in your own subject. Be creative! You can even swear!
Re: Sponsorship for DNN travel
Hey gnosis, wasn't it you and Leadjammer that had a fundraiser/raffle last year to help drum up cash for your travel to nationals? I believe it was because I donated to get in on the raffle - a GREAT idea btw, give people something to buy raffle tickets for, even if just a tshirt or something - we love promo stuff!!
Just an idea...

Fundraiser
Yep, I did a raffle last year and it was very helpful. Paid my hotel bill, I think. I'm sure we'll come up with some kind of fundraiser again this year on top of our sponsorship drive. The coverage will be much more thorough this year with the full DNN team on the job, but that means more dinero. So we'll hit you up for cash one way or another ;)
What about this for a solution?
Let it copy the subject in. But only give a link on the left had thing for new subject lines. Most of us are sharp enough to scroll down to the next comment in a thread.
Just a though..

Interesting thought
We might go with something similar to that. Hurt & Justice & I have had some conversations about how to make that whole thing more useful, with a particular emphasis on a convenient way for people to catch up on new comments in threads they've already perused. I'm working on some trial & error stuff and should have something new to try soon. Thanks for the feedback! -G
