North Central Consolation: 9NC Chicago Outfit Upsets 7NC Brewcity, 129-103

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The Chicago Outfit outlasted the Brewcity Bruisers to claim their second win in a day over a Wisconsin team. As in the win against Madison on Saturday morning, the Outfit’s physicality and pack control deciding the game. The Outfit’s win gives them a big boost in the North Central rankings, moving them up from ninth seed to no worse than sixth place in the tournament.

The Syndicate blanked Milwaukee for the first five minutes, building a 28-0 lead, largely on Sweet Mary Pain’s 18-point effort behind a defense that stymied Brewcity’s formidable Carrie A. Hacksaw for the full two minutes. The Bruisers’ Scooter brought her team back within range, 33-46 on a 14-point power jam with a little over ten minutes in the half, but the Outfit pack would dominate Milwaukee the rest of the way 36-8 to go into the intermission with the score doubled-up, 82-41.

Milwaukee scratched back in the second, taking lead jams 8-4 to close to within 24, 70-94. A cutting the track major on Lola Blow at the 12-minute mark gave Brewcity their big break, and Scooter capitalized with a 20-point effort. Ahead now just by four, the Outfit stepped up and once again shut-out Hacksaw, with Sweet Mary Pain taking back most of the previous jam’s gains on a 15-point turn.

The bout’s last ten minutes marked an intense effort for both teams. Milwaukee effectively stemmed the bleeding from a jammer penalty on Scooter to keep the margin at 26 points, but trading scores wouldn’t be enough for the Bruisers, and Maul E. Hatchet ended the game with the jam call on her knees after a tough hit into the infield.

While Sweet Mary Pain and Queefer Sutherland ended the game with 56 and 53 points respectively, all the credit goes to the Outfit’s disciplined pack play, which allowed quick releases for their jammers while frustrating Milwaukee’s scorers. Of particular note on the Syndicate’s defense was Lady K., who continued with her jammer takedown highlight reel from the morning bout against Madison. Scooter led Brewcity’s scoring with 53 points.
