INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- 5NC Cincinnati finally shook off a determined challenge from in-state rivals Ohio with a dominating second half to cruise to a 168-86 final.
A nine point jam from Ohio’s Phoenix Bunz five minutes into the game briefly gave Ohio the lead, 13-10, but Cincinnati quickly wrested back the lead on a 13 point effort from Hannah Ouchocinco, and the Black Sheep scarcely looked back, nearly doubling the score at halftime, 66-37.
Ohio grabbed the first two leads of the second half, but couldn’t manage to garner any points from the advantage. It was Ouchocinco again with the big score, this time with 20 points on the power jam five minutes into the half for a 94-37 margin. The Cincinnati packed simply dominated from there on out, winning leads 12-3. Ohio’s one bright point of the half was an 18 point effort from HellionBoi on a power jam 12 minutes in.
It’s hard to believe that there's only one each of Cincinnati’s jammer duo of K. Lethal and Hannah Ouchocinco – either one or the other was on the track at almost all times. The two combined for 34 of 38 jams skated, with Ouchocinco contributing 77 points and K. Lethal 71. HellionBoi led Ohio’s scoring effort with 39 points.
Cincinnati will play again on Saturday, up against 8 seed Arch Rival at 5:30pm. Ohio is now 0-2 on the weekend and will play the also winless 6th seed Madison on Sunday morning in the 9th place game.
