Watch this space all this week for a new DNN Labs experiment! We'll be bringing you live video of the Jackie Daniels training track daily throughout RollerCon, supported by textcast.
In the past, many people have attempted to capture roller derby training on video, but audio is a persistent problem, as is getting coaches to use a mic properly. We will provide a live textcast of each training session, describing the action and the wisdom that coaches and teachers are sharing. Further, we'll be providing these textcasts in several other languages as often as we are able. French, Spanish, Portuguese and more are on the menu - so look for these special and historic textcasts soon!
Look for 4 very special live challenge and sanctioned bouts this week, as well! All video and textcasts will be archived on DNN, in case you miss any of the action!

regarding audio
I tuned into a couple of the training sessions yesterday. "Getting coaches to use a mic properly" seems like it shouldn't be that hard. Just strap a wireless lav on each one of them. No fuss, no muss, unless they fall on the battery pack (something I wouldn't expect coaches to do very often, if ever). The sessions I watched had only one or two presenters/coaches, so a pair of lav mics seems like it would do the trick and sound great.
unfair statement...
I think that's an unfair statement since they had no microphones for the training session that I watched (and I watched a lot of them) - for the first 2 days there wasn't even any sound.
