DNN Server Upgrades

Regular users of DNN may have noticed a little bumpiness in the website's performance over the past few weeks. Our audience growth continues unabated, placing further strain on our server, whose OS install is also getting a little long in the tooth. We've been aiming for some time to spruce up the workings, and we're now putting those plans into action.
This week, we've begun building up a pair of new servers to replace the existing hosting. Not only will this eliminate the performance problems you may have seen, it will also get us ready for some exciting new offerings we've been getting ready to share with you. It may be a bit of a bumpy ride yet over the next few days -- think of it as road construction -- but at the end of the process, 8 smooth wide lanes of free-flowing traffic. (Until that fills up, of course, and then we get to do this all over again).
We'd like to offer our thanks to all who've joined DNN's 2011 Fund Drive -- among many other things, your contributions enable us to improve the tubes that run the bits the bring the derby to your glowing rectangle. You are part of DNN, and we are glad to work for you!
Also, a special acknowledgement to Lisa Lawless for again lending us her expertise in server resource balancing. It's easy enough to throw more RAM (i.e. more money) at the problem, but she continues to help us make sure we're getting the most out of the resources we already have!
For an extremely nerdy discussion of the changes we're making, read on.
