#12 Charm City Shoots Down Jet City, 292-77
BALTIMORE, MD -- #12 Charm City ended a 5-game sanctioned-game losing skid in definitive fashion by putting up a 292-77 win over visiting Jet City, sending Jet City to their largest-ever margin of defeat at 215 points. Charm City had previously defeated River City (2010) and Long Island (2007) by larger amounts.
I.M. Pain pulled lead jammer on Precious N Metal to start the game, but the jam went 4-3 for Jet City as Precious was right on Pain's tail through the opening score pass. That was as close as the game ever was, though. Charm's Just Carol pulled a 4-0 on the following jam to make it 7-4, and then Charm City got a giant jam with the help of Jet City putting two blockers in the box; I.M. Pain pulled down a 24-0. After a 4-3 to Joy Collision, Charm City had a quick 36-7 lead just about 5 minutes into the game.
Jet City picked up lead jammer on three out of the next four jams, but with the jammers neck and neck, had to call at 0-0 on each. Charm dropped a 9-0 for I.M. Pain during that sequence, putting them up 45-7 with 20 minutes left in the first half.
It wasn't until the score was 53-11 Charm City with 17:20 to go that Jet City finally got a solid jam win. Charm's CC Bang Bang was hammered by Photon Pixie and Trixxxxie Trash'n Em to the point that she passed the star to pivot Holly Go Hardly; JCRG's Sierra Fist picked up a 9-0 there to make it 53-20. But Charm responded with a series of wins that pushed their lead to 70-24 with 12:15.
Charm City's CC Bang Bang gave Jet City's Snack Size a double opportunity when both jammers went to the box early in the next jam, but CC went directly back to the box on an illegal procedure re-entry; Jet City turned it into a 6-0 that left them down 70-30 with 8:26 on a stopped clock, as Charm City called time there.
Unfortunately for the visitors, Charm City's defense tightened up considerably after that timeout; a 43-0 run capped by a 12-0 powerjam to Just Carol followed, and put Charm up 113-30. Jet City didn't score again until the very last jam of the half on a 3-0, leaving Jet City down by exactly 80 points at the break.
While the teams traded wins to open the half, it was the third jam of the half where Charm City firmly closed the door for good by pulling some lockdown slow play on a powerjam; CC Bang Bang dropped a 20-0 that gave Charm City a triple digit lead at 137-37.
The Baltimore team didn't take their foot off the gas, though; Joy Collision landed a huge 33-7 jam about midway through the half that made it 193-58, and I.M. Pain followed up with a 14-0 powerjam that had Charm ahead 207-58 with 14:20.
From there, it was just a matter of time; Charm got one last big blast in the second-to-last jam when Dolly Rocket took advantage of 2 jammer penalties on Sierra Fist to pick up a 31-0 in her only jam of the night. One jam later, Charm City claimed the win at 292-77.
