DNN Annual Report: FY 2011

dnn_goals_progress.png

About a year ago, we launched our 2010 viewer fund drive, and we accompanied that launch with a description of our current doings and future plans. Today we kick off our 2011 fund drive, and again we’d like to fill you in on what we’re doing to earn your continued support.

During the winter "off season," the DNN crew spent some quality time reviewing our purpose, goals, and progress. The result is our new, fully articulated mission statement, which you should go take a peek at if you haven't already.

Having spelled out the "what," the next step is discussing the "how" and the "why." Over the past four years, we've pursued several goals all related to our mission. We've achieved great success with some; with others, we've got a long way to go. Click the graphic for our frank self-evaluation of our progress over the years on each goal. (Yes, we're aware the Y axis is numerically meaningless, it's hard to quantify how we "feel" about our progress).

Through the course of these conversations, we came to see something about ourselves more clearly: what we are, first and foremost, is a laboratory for experimenting with and developing new media technologies for derby. Some of our experiments have flourished, to the point where others are able to replicate our example; others are still works in progress; still others are in the early proof of concept stage, and will take more time and resources to fully develop.

We love our "technology demonstrator" role, and with your support, we'll keep pushing the outside of the envelope. We think you, our audience, are committed to the goals we've laid out, and we'd like your continued help to achieve them. In the following pages, we'll break down our progress and plans in each area:
