#15 Cincinnati Knocks Back #19 Nashville, 176-65

CINCINNATI, OH -- In the first game of the 2011 season for both teams, the North Central's Cincinnati was just too much for visiting Nashville out of the South Central. Nashville hung with Cincy for the first ten minutes of each half, but Cincinnati ruled the reminder of the bout to put up a triple digit win, 176-65.

Nashville picked up the first lead by opening with back-to-back 3-0 jams to Ramb0 Samb0 and Four Leaf Roller, but Cincinnati locked down on Nashville jammer Britches N' Hose on the third jam badly enough to inspire her to pass the star to Maulin' Monroe after almost two minutes of scrapping in a fast pack; Cincinnati's Wheezy put up a 9-0 to put Cincy up 9-6. Nashville tied it at 9 on the next jam, but Hannah Ouchocinco delivered another 9-0 win for Cincy that made it 18-9 about ten minutes into the game.

Cincy got their first power jam opportunity on jam six when Nashville's Ramb0 Samb0 hit the penalty box early; Wheezy got to work on a light pack and Cincy did an effective job of slowing it down for 13 points, though Ramb0 managed to grab 2 before Wheezy called for a new score of 31-11. It was the beginning of a tough sequence for the visitors; Cincy's K Lethal dropped a 10-2 and Wheezy picked up a 5-0 on a powerjam to give Cincy a solid lead at 46-13.

With ten minutes left in the half, Cincinnati was up 50-17 when they got another powerjam opportunity against Lady Fury, who picked up a costly fourth minor; Hannah Ouchocinco converted that into a 10-0 and a 60-17 lead. Penalty problems continued to bite Nashville in the second-to-last jam of the half as they completely filled the box and Cincy's Wheezy dropped a double grand slam. At the break Cincinnati was comfortably up 83-22.

The second half started with relatively low scoring; though it was almost 7 minutes into the half before Nashville got on the board, the margin was still about the same at 94-30. There was a scary moment early in when Nashville's Jennifer Smith took a hard fall that led to a play stoppage, but she was able to skate off under her own power. Cincinnati got within one point of the century mark with 19:51 at 99-34 on a jam that saw both jammers, K Lethal and Ramb0 Samb0, hit the penalty box; on the same jam, Nashville blocker Lady Fury fouled out of the game.

After a lengthy timeout following that jam, Cincinnati went right back to extending their lead, and Nashville never really got any sustained offensive production. Cincy's lead broke 100 points with 8 minutes left to play at 144-45, and in the end they won by 111 in a 176-65 final.

Next up for Cincinnati is Fort Wayne on April 9; Nashville will regroup against WFTDA apprentice league Little City (Johnson City, TN), also on April 9.
