WFTDA adds eleven new member leagues -- notably the London Rollergirls and Chicago Outfit (the latter of which gives WFTDA its fourth city rivalry along with Minnesota / North Star, Dallas / Assassination City and Denver / Rocky Mountain).

1) Congratulations to the Garden State Rollergirls for being the first New Jersey league to become a WFTDA member!
2) I like that Whip It was renamed "Rollergirls Diary" in Japan. I can imagine that keeping the original title would have drawn out too many bondage fetishists.
3) If I had a nickel for every time someone told me they were making a roller derby zombie movie, I'd have 15 cents. I'm glad someone has finally put a trailer together for their own project so those other people won't make their movies. They didn't sound too good. ;p

Congrats to PVRG and the Outfit on becoming WFTDA it will be interesting this up coming season to see what happens with these two teams..keep your eye out!!
regionals?
Will these 11 teams be included in the next wftda rankings and eligible for regionals this year? Or not eligible until next year?
regionals and rankings qualifications
in order to qualify for regionals (now being called playoffs), a team must play 2 in-region games after the closing of nationals (now being called championships) the previous year and before june 30th this year (the end of the 2nd quarter). unless the teams squeeze in two sanctioned games between now and june 30th, it is just not possible. also, to be ranked, you have to play at least two games against already ranked teams too. again, those games would have to be squeezed in between now and june 30th to be considered for rankings this quarter.
so basically, i doubt most (if any) of the newcomers will be ranked this quarter or qualified for playoffs. some of them are playing sanctioned games between now and june 30th, but i don't think as of right now any of them are being super-ambitious and squeezing in two games. most folks planned out their schedules way farther in advance than their knowledge of when they would graduate from the apprentice program.

We would have loved to do it, but distance combined with the timing makes it even harder. Next year we hope!
We'll have to route for Montreal instead!

Oh how hard the Oufit did try to be that "super-ambitious" league and make those two sanctioned bouts but sadly changing graduation deadlines to the end of June really disrupted all the plans we tried to make :(
I'm a little disappointed, but we're certainly pumped to start getting all up in that WFTDA stuff right now!

PRG Broad St. Butchers - CT Rollergirls?
Was the Philly Roller Girls Broad St. Butchers home bout against the CT Rollergirls Stepford Sabotage played last Saturday June 12 as scheduled? A score hasn't been posted on DNN yet.

i don't recall the exact final score, but the butchers won by about 100.
