TXRG Hotrod Honeys 223, CCRG Female Trouble 26 -- On Saturday, Female Trouble, Charm City’s B team, hosted the Texas Hotrod Honeys at the Du Burns Arena in Baltimore as the undercard to the Charm City v Kansas City bout. The Hotrod Honeys arrived with alternate names inspired by John Waters, but showed that they brought their A-game as well.
The bout began with a Honeys 14-0 jam by #03 Velma von Tussle (Olivia Shootin' John) over Bambi’s Revenge. Texas continued to increase their lead to 36-2 with four more lead jammer calls until Female Trouble’s Zamboni Toni picked up a 4-1 over #40 Chicklette (Bloody Mary). The Honeys shutout FemTro 26-0 over the next six jams, however, including a 13-0 from #55 Tracy Turnblad (Haus the Boss) over Loretta Scars before Dosa Badazz was able to pick up lead and a small 4-3 over #1980 Mink Stole (Olympia). From that point, Female Trouble only scored once more in the half with a 7-0 for Zamboni Toni, and the half ended at 103-17.
If anything, the second half was only more dominant for the Honeys. Female Trouble only scored on two jams, both from Bambi's Revenge, as she was on the right side of an 8-0 but the wrong side of a 9-1. The Hotrod Honeys, on the other hand, dropped 120 points to FT's 8, and easily cruised to the win.
Charm City’s scoring was almost exclusive to Bambi’s Revenge and Zamboni Toni with 11 points a piece. The only other jammer to score was Dosa Badazz who picked up the MVP, while an memorable defensive performance was given by Thoroughbled. The Honeys were led by Motormouth Maybelle (Radioactive) and Tracy Turnblad with a +40 point differential each and the latter earning the MVP. -- N8
Dynamite Dolls 79, CRG [Cincinnati] Silent Lambs 52 -- Demolition City (Evansville, IN) improved their 2010 record to 7-0 as they went on the road to the Cincinnati Gardens to defeat the Cincinnati Rollergirls’ b-team, the Silent Lambs. It was a shortened undercard bout for the the night's main event, where the Cincinnati all-star team defeated Brewcity, 139-67.
In the preliminary bout, there were five lead changes in the first half as the Lambs' pack control frustrated the Dolls' offense. The Demolition City defense, though, held up often enough to compensate. After a 0-0 first jam, Lillith of the Valley opened the scoring with a 4-1 jam against Bex Pistol to give the Dolls a lead that lasted only one jam. Wheezy answered with five points to take the lead for the Lambs. Over the next five jams, the Dolls’ defense allowed only one point while their offense pecked away to take a 12-7 lead just past the quarter mark. Wheezy then posted a 15-4 jam to give CRG a 22-16 lead. Godjilla followed with 9 points to re-take the lead for the Dolls, but once again, it didn’t hold. Polly Rocket and Pistol Whippin’ Wendy closed out the half with 4 and 8 point jams respectively to give the Lambs a slim 6-point lead at the half, 34-28.
The second half saw the Lambs build a 14-point lead in spite of a 6-pointer from the Dolls’ Hazardous Dooks that narrowed the lead to three; the Lambs Bex Pistol answered with 7 points of her own to give the Lambs their biggest lead yet at 10 points. Polly immediately padded the lead with 4 more to give the Lambs their final lead of the night at 48-34.
The Dolls’ Shelby N Pain then put up the game-changer with a 20-point jam behind a wall of Bangs McCoy, Megan M Hurt, Bitter Cup and Latin Shover while Wheezy sat in the box. Dolls up by six, 54-48. Four jams later, Lilllith of the Valley added a 14-point back-breaker and Godjilla added 6 points of icing to close out the scoring. Two scoreless jams later, it was all over with a final score of 79-52. Shelby N Pain and Lillith of the Valley led the Dolls’ scoring with 24 points each followed by Godjilla’s 22 points. Wheezy led the Lambs with 23 points and Polly Rocket had 11 points. -- Barry Heathcotte
SCDD Blitzburgh Bombers 195, NEO Audio Assault 35 -- In a battle of B-teams, Akron, OH's NEO Audio Assault faced off against a unique roster comprised of members from both of Steel City's two B-teams. Five skaters from B-Unit filled out a short-handed Blitzburgh roster along with the premiere of Steel City skater Cruisin' B. Anthony. The unusual roster didn't have too much trouble with the visitors, though, up by 100 at halftime on the way to a big win.
Rookie Cruisin' B. Anthony struck for a leadoff triple grand-slam while teammate Attaxl Rose put the clamps down on Audio Assault's Rosa Mariposa. Blitzburgh jammers McShovin and Death Cake for Cutie followed with powerjams of 13 and 19 respectively, speeding virtually contact-free through a Audio Assault pack that tried to keep the pace slow. Halfway through the first half the score was 55-3 Blitzburgh.
Monty Pipe Bomb captured the first lead jam for Audio Assault, with a nifty move to cap a grand slam. But the Audio Assault strategy of using slow packs at a distance behind the Blitzburgh line did not work as McShovin, Cruisin' B. Anthony, Elsie Thudd, and Dakota Slamming all tallied double-digit jams, many lasting the full two minutes. The agile Blitzburgh star-bearers had little problem with the static phalanx of blockers while the Ohio scorers found themselves tangled in the strong Blitzburgh defense which included a mighty double take-out by C.C. DeKill. The halftime score was Blitzburgh 113, Audio Assault 13.
The second half saw Attaxl Rose keeping up great defense, successfully taking on two or three Audio Assault blockers at a time and freeing Cruisin' B. Anthony for another big score of 19 points. With 10 minutes left to play, the score 158-18 but Audio Assault had some good defensive jams to close; SinMon-Sugah, Cross Bone Cutie and Bouncing Betty forced premature endings to Blitzburgh jams with big hits while Rosa Mariposa avoided a massive pileup to take lead jammer and score 4.
Audio Assault outscored Blitzburgh 7-6 over 4 jams near the end, but the streak came to an end as Dakota Slamming powerjammed to a triple grand-slam. In the final jam of the bout, Hurt So Good forced a cut for C.C. DeKill and Monty Pipe Bomb scored 4 to make the final Blitzburgh 195, Audio Assault 35. -- Michael Frightn'd
