Sunday

#24 Montreal 197, Tampa Bay 57 -- Montreal continued to prove that they're a serious threat in WFTDA by blasting Tampa Bay by 140 points for their second win of the weekend. Tampa Bay's blocking was much more effective than Dominion's had been the previous day, but lithe Montreal jammers Iron Wench and Ewan Wotarmy seemed to be every bit as hard to hit as they were on Saturday, with Tampa blockers often blocking at air or finding themselves being passed on the narrowest of sideline runs.

Tampa Bay looked like they might be able to hang for most of the first half, with the margin a reasonable 32 points at 55-23 with 8 minutes left in the half. Montreal turned on the jets there and only allowed one more point over the remaining jams while scoring 38 of their own. At the half it was 93-24, and the second half was practically a carbon copy at 104-33.

Impressive in a losing cause on the Tampa Bay side was jammer Little A, who had both the speed and the moves to keep up with Iron Wench in a number of head to head jams, and blocker Leia Flat, who lived up to her name quite a few times with some bone-shattering hits.

Montreal went 2-0 at ECE, while Tampa Bay lost both their bouts.

Dutchland 260, Harrisburg 78 -- Much in like Harrisburg's loss to Suburbia on Saturday, they were consistently bedeviled by a lack of pack cohesion, an issue exacerbated by injury. They'd lost Skate Edge to an injury on Saturday, and lost another of their more effective skaters in Cybil Disobedience early in this bout. Dutchland, however, rode some very effective jamming from Nash Villain and Skid Ho to a huge early lead. Over the first 15 minutes, Harrisburg could only score in two jams as Dutchland raced to a 64-8 lead, and by the half they were up 119-31.

For most of the second, the score hovered around a 100 point margin as Harrisburg seemed like they might be able to at least go point for point for Dutchland, but at about the 14 minute mark, Harrisburg's defense seemed to disintegrate while Dutchland's jamming got only more effective. Hillbilly Hellcat and Treasure Chest were particularly effective on Dutchland D as Dutchland finished the bout on an utterly dominating 94-4 run (and called timeout with 2 seconds left on the clock for the last 10 points of it.)

Dutchland finished at 2-0 on the weekend, while Harrisburg went to their second +100 point loss of the weekend and their fifth straight in 2010.

DC 122, Naptown 106 -- This one was all momentum swings for the first half before DC managed to open up a big lead in the second half. Just at the point in the game where DC's victory seemed certain, a severe defensive collapse in the last five minutes gave Naptown a chance at a huge comeback, but DC hung on to take the win.

DC got out to the early lead with a 15-0 powerjam to Sookie Slaughterhouse on the second frame, but no lead was safe for a long time. There were 9 lead changes in the first half, ending with an effective DC exploitation of a 4-1 pack in their favor that allowed Roller Rage Rosie to drop 5 and put DC up by a point with about 1:16 to play in the half. In the half's final jam, Sookie Slaughterhouse once again proved herself to be deadly on a powerjam, picking up a 20-0 that gave DC their largest lead of the half at 63-42.

Powerjam trouble once again bit Naptown about halfway through the second, as they were hanging right with DC at 76-61 with 16 minutes to play, but a major track cut on Naptown jammer Amooze Bouch let DC jammer Free Radical triple-slam and move the score to 91-61 with 13:23 left. DC added 14 more unanswered points to the run over the next three jams, and it seemed to be in the bag at 114-64 with about 6 minutes to play.

Suddenly, though, DC couldn't seem to figure out how to build a defensive wall, and Naptown's jammer started getting some multiple easy passes while DC jammers got utterly stymied in the pack. Naptown narrowed to 114-86 with 3:20 left to play, and Naptown's Amooze Bouch gutted her way to a 14-0 win over Small Frye to put Naptown within single-jam range with 24 seconds left on the clock, 114-100.

Naptown's 36-0 run wouldn't end in victory, though. They did get lead jammer for Slammy Faye, but DC's Free Radical battled her way to the jam win, 8-6, in the final, full-length jam.

Naptown and DC both went 1-1 at the event.

Injury update on Beyonslay?

Any word on what happened and how she is doing?

slay update, from Slay

update from Slay: it's a clean break tib & fib. Standard 6wk protocol. Whole thing hurt less than labor. ;)

:(

Oh no! Get well soon, Slay!

Surgery?

With a plate and screws? Sometimes they'll do that for a break. Anyway get well Slay.

No surgery, no plate, no

No surgery, no plate, no screws. Its a clean break, should heal fine on it's own.

Sorta glad to hear that.

I've heard people say that a clean break is better than a sprain or tear. Not that anything like this is good news, just "less bad." Wishing her a speedy recovery from upstate.

Glad your ok

Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that Im glad your ok.

Take care. Cute baby..
