FEASTERVILLE, PA -- Host league Philly (officially #2 in the WFTDA Eastern Region, #7 nationally via DNN) faces off against Windy City (officially #1 in the WFTDA North Central Region, #9 nationally via DNN) in the third entry in what has become a significant national rivalry.

This is the marquee bout of Saturday East Coast Extravaganza action; join DNN at 8:30 Eastern (7:30 Central) for complete live coverage! DNN coverage of the East Coast Extravaganza is presented by Fast Girl Skates.

This rivalry actually started at the 2008 ECE, where Philly delivered an upset to the Windy City girls in a dramatic 92-76 win. Last year, the teams upped the ante when Philly went to Chicago and became the only team to ever defeat Windy City at home in a heavily defensive 70-69 game; Philly jammer Teflon Donna won it in style with a perfectly played 1-0 last jam.

If Windy City is still smarting from having that flawless home record broken, though, they'll have no better opportunity for fitting revenge than here at ECE; over three previous ECE events, Philly has a perfect 6-0 record with wins over Providence, Big Easy, Windy City, Madison, Kansas City and Rat City.

Thus far in 2010, Windy City has only played 2 WFTDA bouts, a big 159-59 win over North Star and a surprisingly close 115-104 win over #11 Madison, a team they'd dismissed by 94 points in the final of last year's North Central Regionals. Philly's been a little more active, and last week scored an impressive win over #4 Denver, 119-106, breaking what had been a six-game winning streak. Overall, Philly is 4-3 on the year, with a 4 game winning streak following an 0-3 start to their season against #2 Oly, #5 Rose City and #6 Rat City.

Both teams have picked up a particularly high profile transfer in 2010 -- previous Rat City star Miss Fortune for Philly, and previous Grand Raggidy star Jackie Daniels for Windy City.

A New Trend

I'm predicting a trend this year re when a Chicago team of athletes on skates meets a Philly team of athletes on skates....

Somebody tell the DJ to have "Chelsea Dagger" cued up.
