#23 Kansas City Meets #11 Charm City & DC

BALTIMORE, MD -- Charm City hosts their first home bout of the season this Saturday as they face off against Kansas City in a rematch of a closely contested 2009 meeting.

Charm City vs Kansas City and CCRG Female Trouble vs TXRG Hotrod Honeys will be streamed live courtesy of the Charm City Roller Girls. Join us for the action at 6:30pm Eastern (5:30pm Central).

Charm City (officially #4 in the East via WFTDA, #11 nationally via DNN) is looking to arrest a tough losing skid -- after opening their 2010 with wins over Montreal and River City, they have lost five in a row and are looking at a 2-5 record. Those 5 losses, though, reflect what's arguably the toughest strength of schedule in WFTDA right now -- they've faced #1 Gotham, #2 Oly, #3 Rocky Mountain, #5 Rose City and #6 Rat City in this quarter, and will also take on #8 Texas next week and #4 Denver next month.

Kansas City is officially #2 in the South Central via WFTDA and #23 nationally via DNN, but their WFTDA ranking is likely to change at the end of this quarter as they recently lost a close one to regional rival Atlanta, 124-111.

In the first CCRG / KCRW meeting, Kansas City led for the first 40 minutes before Charm City stormed back to take over in the end and win 135-115. This time, both teams will be fielding some new talent -- and for Kansas City, they'll once again have the services of one of the sport's first breakout stars, as Snot Rocket (now playing under her government name Kelley Young) returns from a two-year retirement.

Kansas City will head down to the nation's capital on Sunday morning to take on DC, a team that's been having a rough 2010 thus far at 2-5. Though they currently sit on the edge of a WFTDA tournament invite at #10 in the WFTDA Eastern Region, they suffered a 95-77 loss to East #14 Dominion last month that may have killed their shot at this year's Regionals. Though they've got three more games before the quarter ends, they're all out-of-region bouts -- in addition to Kansas City this weekend, they play Nashville and Naptown next weekend at the East Coast Extravaganza.

snot rocket!

is back! waaaahhhooooo!

!!!

That's awesome!

DC

DC had a respectable showing against Carolina last Sunday, with a point spread very close to Carolina vs. Dutchland the night before. Considering Dutchland whopped us fairly badly earlier this year, I'd say DC has made some improvements worth noting over the last quarter!
