Chicago Outfit 134, Paper Valley 74 -- In a heated double header between WFTDA apprentice leagues on April 24th at the Windy City Fieldhouse, The Chicago Outfit took on the Paper Valley Roller Girls. After the Chicago Outfit Shade Brigade lost to the Paper Valley Flyin Squirrels 75-59 in a battle between the B squads, the Chicago Outfit Syndicate was ready to make the score even by defeating the Paper Valley All Stars.
The Syndicate took a 25 point lead by the second jam with a 14-point jam by Sweet Mary Pain followed by an 11-point jam by Lola Blow. Meanwhile the Syndicate's blockers were able to keep Paper Valley from scoring until the 4th jam. By the 15-minute mark the Syndicate was in the lead 45-19. Facing the early deficit, Paper Valley showed no signs of defeat, continuing to build strong walls to try to contain the Syndicate's jammers. At the half the score stood 86 to 29 in favor of the Syndicate.
Paper Valley stepped it up during the second period and scored a total of 45 points, but it wasn't enough to catch the Syndicate, who led 98-53 at the 45-minute mark. A number of penalties and full penalty boxes on the Syndicate allowed Paper Valley some opportunities at power jams. Both teams proved to be strategic and smart in the pack as they worked to control the speed to help their jammers. In the end, Paper Valley was able to hinder the Syndicate's speed and prevent them from scoring in a strong attempt to come back and win. Their attempt fell short as The Syndicate kept up the strong hits and fast jamming to win 134 to 74.
For the Syndicate, Sweet Mary Pain scored a total of 52 points, Lola Blow scored 37, and Queefer Sutherland scored 32. Paper Valley's Pissy Pistol lead their jammers with 32 points and Chop Stick Ya scored 26.

MRD Unholy Rollers 153, BCB Battlestars 65 -- The Unholy Rollers dispatched the visiting Brewcity B-team, the Battlestars, in the final inter-league team bout of the 2010 Mad Rollin’ Dolls season.
Scoring was slow for both teams through the first 15 minutes of play, with the Unholy Rollers holding a slim 28-14 lead. The Unholy Rollers hit their stride in the second quarter and finished the half on top 65-28. The Battlestars managed to score in only three of the first half’s 20 jams, with 13 points from HackSAW at the mid-point and 14 more points from Slayerah in the period’s final jam.
The Battlestars were game at the start of the second period and closed the gap to just 21 points at 67-46. A trademark 20-0 jam from Jewels of Denile widened the gap once again. The Unholies dominated the rest of the game, holding the Battlestars scoreless for a ten-minute stretch to claim the win.
Rookie Unholy skater Twisted Halo set a single-game scoring record for the Mad Rollin’ Dolls with 66 points. Jewels of Denile topped that with all 51 of her points going unmatched by the opposing jammer. Brewcity rookie Slayerah led her team’s effort with 22 points. Her teammate Moby Nipps led all skaters in track time with 22 turns on the line. -- Geoffrey Saucer
Demolition City 138, Memphis Women of Mass Destruction 124 -- In the feature bout of a double header, Demolition City Roller Derby’s Dynamite Dolls were seeking revenge for the 62-51 loss to Memphis Roller Derby’s local team Women of Mass Destruction last year in Memphis. The Dolls got their revenge by dealing the WMD a 138-124 defeat at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum in Evansville. It was a rough-and-tumble, close bout that had three lead changes in the first four jams. The Dolls took the lead in the seventh jam and gradually pulled away, but the WMD’s Rolls Royce put together a 12-point jam to pull within three points slightly past the quarter mark. The Dolls followed with 12 and 9-point jams by Hazardous Dooks and Godjilla to open the lead to 22 points, but the WMD closed out the half with a 19-6 run thanks to a 10-point jam from Rolls Royce. The half closed with the Dolls leading 77-64.
In the second jam of the second half, Lilith of the Valley added 13 points to make it a 30 point lead for the Dolls, but Tenacious B brought it back to 20 with her 10 pointer two jams later. Godjilla immediately followed with the first of her two consecutive 9-point jams to re-open the lead. WMD finished the bout with a 19-0 run to bring the final tally to 138-124 in favor of the Dolls. The WMD scoring was enhanced by excellent pack control when they had the sole jammer.
The Dolls’ Godjilla led all scorers with 63 points, followed by Lillith of the Valley with 42; Tenacious B led the WMD with 39 points while Rolls Royce had 30. The Dolls remain undefeated on the year at 4-0. -- Barry Heathcotte
DCRD Destruction Dames 102, Lafayette 42 -- Demolition City's B-team, the Destruction Dames, opened the double header at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Coliseum in Evansville with a 102-42 win over first-time opponent, the Lafayette Brawlin Darlins. After falling behind 5-2 in the first jam, the Dames took the lead with a 10-point jam by Abs of Steel thanks to a wicked Deflower Power take-out of the Darlins’ jammer, Valentine Massacre. The Dames never looked back but held only a slim 31-25 lead at the half.
Offense and defense both took an up-tick in the second half for the Dames. Thanks to some excellent work by the Dames’ blockers, the Darlins were held to 17 points while the Dames’ offense rang up 71 points. Shortly before the three-quarter mark, DCRD’s Full Throttle put up a 15-point jam that was aided by Elle on Wheels’ take out of opposing jammer Kitty Crossbones.
Parity was the name of the game with the Dames’ scoring; they were led by Full Throttle with 28 points, followed closely by What’s Her Face, Abs of Steel and The Derbinator with 23, 21 and 20 points respectively. The Brawlin Darlins got 14 points from Valentine Massacre and 10 points each from Fierce B-otch and Scarburst. The win kept the Dames undefeated this year with a 3-0 record. -- Barry Heathcotte
