Preview: #11 Charm City @ #1 Oly

OLYMPIA, WA -- One night after a rough 135-67 loss in Portland to Rose City, Baltimore's Charm City continues a three-day Pacific Northwest tour against the 2009 WFTDA champions, Oly.

This game will be covered via text-only boutcast on DNN. First whistle is scheduled for 6:30pm.

Now 2-2 on the 2010 season after wins over Montreal and River City and losses to Gotham and Rose, Charm City will be getting a serious test here. Oly joined the WFTDA in January 2009 and has not lost a game since. Their 14-0 win streak in sanctioned games is slowly inching towards the record set by Gotham from 2007 to 2009, where they went 18-0 in the course of picking up the 2008 championship. So far this year, Oly has knocked off stiff competition in #6 Rose City, #8 Philly and #10 Madison.

Charm City fell into a huge 91-27 first-half hole in Friday's bout against Rose City, bitten especially hard by penalty trouble that often left them looking at heavily lopsided packs. Notably, though, they did a much better job of staying out of the box in the second half, and the scoreboard reflected it -- Rose City only won the second half by 4 points at 44-40. Since Oly and Rose played to a near stalemate in February, it's possible that Charm City could lay a big surprise on Oly if they bring that second-half play for a full 60 minutes.

One other element working in Charm City's favor will be the fact that Oly is missing one of their most effective jammers in Blonde 'n' Bitchin and one of their most effective blockers in D-Bomb, though they've got plenty of A list talent there to fill their spots.

After sitting out the Rose City bout, Charm City will be fielding lanky, speedy rookie Allie B. Back in place of Deathany and still has one roster slot to fill with an alternate due to Thoroughbled being unable to make the trip.
