Team Awesome Fends Off Team SeXY, 132-102
SAN DIEGO, CA - On, Saturday Dec. 19, a handful of roller derby fans in San Diego were lucky enough to witness the first ever all-female vs. all-male roller derby banked track game. Team Awesome, a national all-female all-star roller derby team, battled Team SeXY, an international all-male all-star roller derby team, on the banked track, to close out the second day of Team Awesome’s Training Camp, Camp Awesome, in the San Diego Derby Dolls' practice space, the Dollhouse.
Team Awesome took the win from Team SeXY on the banked track, with a score of 132-102. The game was a rematch from a 20 minute exhibition game at Roller Con 2009 where Team SeXY took the win from Team Awesome on the flat track with a score of 43-37.
The full footage of this bout can be viewed on DNN's blip.tv channel [first half, second half.]
The game started with Team Sexy’s jammer Justice Feelgood Marshall up against Team Awesome’s jammer Muffin. Muffin scored 2 points right off the bat before Justice could enter the pack, giving the lead after the first jam to Team Awesome, who eventually turned it into a 32 point lead, with a score of 46-14, by the end of the first quarter.
As it turned out, that margin wouldn't be indicative of the rest of the bout, as Team SeXY kept it nearly even with Awesome for the following 45 minutes. The second quarter was much closer, going 39-36 to Team Awesome. Through the first half, Team SeXY’s jammers Quadzilla, Justice Feelgood Marshall, and Rinkworm battled the score board gaining 27, 14, and 9 points respectively in the first half. But this wasn’t enough to match Team Awesome’s jammers Kiki DiAzz, Muffin, and Medusa who scored 34, 26, and 11 points respectively in the first half, putting Team Awesome’s lead at 35 points at the half, 85-50.
Team SeXY was scoring more in the third and fourth quarters than they had in the first and second quarters, but they were not able to catch up. At one point during the fourth quarter Team SeXY’s blocker Dirty Larry, who took the jammer line for the first time in the game, grabbed 5 points, leaving the score 108-88 Team Awesome. That 20 point deficit was the closest that SeXY was able to get, though, and Team Awesome held a 30 point lead at the end with a final score of 132-102.

Comments
Regarding Quadzilla's comments...
It certainly is possible we would have won with a full roster, but as captain of Team SeXY, I make absolutely no excuses for our loss. That being said, DAMN am I looking forward to the tiebreaker :)
"If you can hit us harder,
"If you can hit us harder, show us, because then we’ll train harder, but if you hold back then maybe I’ll never be able to knock down a 300 pound dude.”
Are there really any 300 pound dudes in Team seXY?
Quadzilla is about 300 pounds
If you count the weight of his ego.
(kidding, KIDDING)

ummmm...thats 320 lbs with my ego. Get it straight buddy. =)
This was...
a bunch of first for me! First time on the banked track, first time playing with TA and first time playing dudes. Best bout ever!
Trish and Ivanna
A note that TA actually lost both Trish and Ivanna to aggravated preexisting injuries in the second half.
Bout commentary
I LOVE all of the 'color' commentary on the bout footage. You gotta love 'armchair quarterbacks'. Derby is the best.
Or, as we call it...

We're now calling it "bitch by Bitchy" commentary.
megasorass?
He's so tall he must weigh nearly as much as Quad's ego, don't you think?
re: Mega
If I were to guess, I'd say Mega's probably about 250. This is judging by having skated with him and comparing to my own, uh, girth (which is now sub-300... barely).
