DNN Thanks YOU, Part 3: Content Authors
Our year-end thank you series continues with grateful acknowledgement to our army of volunteer content authors: many dozens of people who wrote the bout previews, the recaps, the news items and commentary to keep you up to speed on the world of modern roller derby. We're proud to note that we've averaged just shy of one new post per day since we launched -- that's just articles and commentaries, not including live event coverage.
Below, we've attempted to list everyone who has written for DNN since mid-2008, along with a total of published items. While we've tried to be comprehensive, it's entirely possible that we've left someone out or miscounted -- please let us know if we've omitted any recognition!
Despite all that, we still have plenty of room for growth and improvement. We've received many more content submissions that we chose not to run for any of a number of reasons, and we haven't always communicated the reasons for our editorial decisions as clearly as we might. Overhauling the submission guidelines is on the off season priority list. Watch for details around the start of the year. We look forward to running a broader variety of your writing in 2010!
We offer our sincere gratitude to the following content authors:

Anita Tension?
I'd like to point out the omission of Anita Tension, who just posted the HCRG/NSRG recap from a couple of weeks ago. I suspect that's simply because it was so recent.
Medusa & NSRG co: is Anita going to be recapping for y'all in the foreseeable future?
Fixed!
Thanks for pointing out the omission! Anita, sorry I left you out. I'm sure there are more names missing, please pass them along.
migration.
There is a remarkable amount of content under the author name 'migration' that does not appear to be yet attributed to a particular author as the DNN continues to work on its new digs.
Take a gander at this:

I actually love this display; it's a fascinating cross-section of the writing that we've had here on the DNN. I see intraleague bouts, B-Team bouts, WFTDA bouts, tournament reports. I love that it's all here. And this reminds me of something.
I write for the DNN, but my primary derby gig is sideline reporting for the MNRG. That means I write about my league and have to be up on our visitors for previews, recaps, and (now) audio description work. Thing is, this group of content providers makes my work for the derby so much easier. Thank you to everyone on the list for making the site the research tool (for me) that it is. I surely owe some of you a beer.
f'ing "migration"
Yeah, you're totally right. When we switched from DNN 1.0 (an early version of which can still be seen here -- memories!) to DNN 2.0, none of the author names carried over. That's pretty much everything posted from September 2007 to June 2008. We've been fixing it in fits and starts over the last year, and although it keeps getting back-burnered in the interest of covering the here and now, trust me that it's been one of those nagging things we know we have to get to.
you can help
If you identify an article credited to "migration" that you know you wrote, let us know so we can correctly attribute it.
Ugh. Yeah. I don't remember
Ugh. Yeah. I don't remember the details anymore, but back in the day when we merged DNN and Leadjammer, there was some complication with mapping the authors between WordPress and Drupal. So "migration" got credit as the most prolific author in Derby history.
NSRG re-caps
Thanks, Garrison! Anita is a skater on one of our intraleague teams so she was able to provide that great re-cap as a spectator. I don't know that she'll be providing re-caps for intraleague bouts (for obvious reasons) but maybe publicly calling her out here will convince her she should continue writing re-caps for our interleague bouts...whaddya say Anita? :)
I can't see the list for some
I can't see the list for some reason?
It's an embedded Google doc.
I've heard from at least one DNN reader whose workplace apparently blocks access to Google docs (which is insane to me, because I'm not sure how anybody gets any work done without using Google.) But we haven't gotten many reports of this kind of thing...
Security Folks
In information security, "Google" is a four letter word. Actually, most don't mind the search and use it a lot. It's just those extras like Docs, Desktop, and now Wave that make their skin crawl.
yeah its catagorized as
yeah its catagorized as "personal storage" which is apparently a bad thing. this includes google docs and any photo sharing site. wave isn't blocked (yet). jezebel isn't blocked, but gawker is (what?). ctunnel is also blocked. thank goodness for fancy phones.
Great contributors, but Justice...
OK, so it's sorta Justice's job to write for DNN. But honestly, when you're there after teardown watching him crank this stuff out and then reading it the next day, he's amazing. Dude, for my money, how anyone can seemingly capture THE moments succinctly yet not lose your quality to the quantity, you are the man.
