Psyched for twenty ten

Congrats to the newly announced host leagues!

Nice!

Looks like I might be able to make four of the five next year. Time to start planning the deathmarch for 2010!

Slight Correction

Not to be nitpicky but... ok, to be completely nitpicky, Nationals are actually "Uproar ON the Lakeshore", not "by the Lakeshore" (and there's a slight typo in Chicago).

So excited to be hosting next year!

I'm just astounded that NC regionals are going to be held about three miles from my house. Come on over and check out my pink roof!

Actually, 3.59 miles. What a

Actually, 3.59 miles. What a rip off.

What?

OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!

Redux

I TELL YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT'S AN!

IT'S AN!

Huh

Geography is a funny thing. "South" Central regionals will be held north of me... and closer than Western regionals!

Denver made a road trip out to Lincoln to bout No Coast last year. May just need to repeat that...

Geography is a harsh mistress

True dat. It is 3.59 miles from my house to NC regionals, but only 3.21 miles from regionals to my house. I can't make my mind up whether that is an outrage or not. It just seems kinda shifty, frankly.

Asymmetry

You'd think there'd be a way to turn that discrepancy into a perpetual motion machine, somehow...

Something not to miss about Chicago hosting Nationals.

2010 will be the 75th (golden) anniversary of Leo Seltzer starting the Transcontinental Roller Derby in Chicago back in 1935. It didn't actually become a game until two years later (and at first had three teams playing at a time). Imagine having 50% more NSOs...

I feel an urge to impose upon my family down in Westchesta next Fall for a weekend or so.

Derby in Chicago

Thats awesome. We had an announcer show up at our last home game who called derby in the 50's. Nice guy and I am sure has many many stories.

Small detail

So, as it's still being called "Nationals", does this mean that teams like Montreal and London are not invited or is it just stuck with a poor name? Seems to me like the point is to decide the WFTDA champion, not the US champion, right? Any chance it'll change to be called something like "Worlds" or, as Slack suggested, "Earths"?

EDIT: Nevermind, following the WFTDA announcement shows that they're just calling it the "WFTDA Championship Tournament". It looks like the old name creeped into DNN's news post about it.

I agree with you.

WFTDA Championships????

Perhaps..........(don't forget about the Hammer, we're international too you know)

It's multi-national now!

I was nerdy enough to email them late last year about this one being called "National."

Everyone knows that Canadia is basically just America with naughtier strippers, killer weed, and funny accents spoken a fair bit speedier. Oh yeah, they punt on the third down, too. This must be due to their socialized medicine?

Dates quick please!

We're getting married next year and need to avoid derby dates, as there are people involved in three different leagues that will be attending and/or participating! Yipes!

????

So are the NC Regionals going to be in Green Bay or Milwaukee????? I need to pay better attention to whats going on around me, for shame.

They're gonna be in my

They're gonna be in my hometown of Green Bay, but the host league is the Brewcity Bruisers, from Milwaukee, two hours to the south. We work cheap up here.

...and we're gonna take Val

...and we're gonna take Val across the street to Lambeau and watch her burst into flame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WFTDA tournament in chicago!!!

can't wait!!!
