Mason Dixon, Harm City Host in Male/Female Doubleheader

HAGERSTOWN, MD -- This Sunday night, the Mason Dixon Roller Vixens host their second male/female doubleheader with Harm City Homicide.

In the first bout, the boys from Baltimore take their third swing in three years against their first-ever opponent, the boys of the Pioneer Valley Dirty Dozen. Harm City will be hoping that the experience they've gained since the inaugural September 2007 meeting will be enough to finally lift them to victory this time.

In the second, MDRV tries to make it two wins in a row for the first time in their history when they take on the B team from Richmond's River City Rollergirls, the Uncivil Warriors.

Harm City Homicide vs. Pioneer Valley Dirty Dozen

There's plenty of history between these two teams. Way back in 2006, when Pioneer Valley had the only men's flat-track team in existence, the Dirty Dozen had their first public bout ever in a 15-minute halftime exhibition bout against a co-ed team of Charm City's referees, captained by Justice Feelgood Marshall. The CCRG refs barely emerged victorious in a chaotic 33-30 final, and that bout would lead to the creation of Harm City Homicide to challenge PVRD in a more standard format.

That meeting happened exactly a year later in September 2007. In that matchup, the rookie Homicide gave the Dirty Dozen a scare for the first two thirds of the game, as Homicide had a small lead at halftime but eventually succumbed to penalty and endurance troubles that gave Pioneer Valley a 100-67 win in the end.

When the teams met for a second time, once again exactly a year later in September 2008, Homicide once again held a small halftime lead, but this time the two battled back and forth all the way through the second half before the Dirty Dozen secured a 80-73 win in a dramatic final jam.

Now, in August 2009, the Homicide has added a few names since their last meeting, notably hard-hitting Puget Sound transfer Albino Wookie, powerful double-threat Gearhead, Jack of Hurts and rookie Methrace. Pioneer Valley also has some new cards to play, including Boston Derby Dames referee Sideswipe, Will Jettison, Fresh Eddie Fresh and Brutus Priest.

Based on previous outcomes, this one is arguably a tossup. The Dirty Dozen has the all-time 2-0 record over the Homicide, but their matchups with other teams this year have left Homicide with a 2-1 record for 2009 while Pioneer Valley sits at 1-2. Pioneer Valley has split a couple of close games with the Connecticut Death Quads, 49-46 for CTDQ and 60-50 for PVRD, and lost to the undefeated New York Shock Exchange by 49 points, 115-66. Harm City crushed the Death Quads in their meeting, 145-29, squeaked by the Diamond City Death Kings 90-86, and also lost to the Shock Exchange by about the same margin as PVRD did, 106-64. (All of these bouts were 40 minutes long.)

Bazooka Joe 49 // Brutus Priest 39 // Davy Jones 78 // Dr Spankenstein 113v // Fresh Eddie Fresh <3 // Jurasskick Park 1993 // The Rev 71 // Rollin Redshirt 1955 // Sideswipe 68 // Snidely Rinkrash 42 // Will Jettison VF-84

Virginia Slim 523 // Sin Diesel 1* // Albino Wookie // Deustch Bag 9 // Justice Feelgood Marshall 1954 // Jack of Hurts // Methrace 2000 // Magnificent Bastard 1.618 // Hung Solo YT-1300 // Gearhead 77 // Groper Cleavage ∞

Mason Dixon Roller Vixens vs. River City Uncivil Warriors

In the other half of this doubleheader, the hosting Mason-Dixon Roller Vixens go up against the B-team from Richmond, VA's River City Rollergirls, the Uncivil Warriors. After a lengthy series of unsuccessful outings, MDRV finally notched their first win in July over the visiting Rocktown Rollers, 164-66 -- that moved the year-old team's all-time record to 1-7.

MDRV continues to enjoy standout play from small but very effective Skid Ho,both at the jam line and in the pack. According to the current roster, they'll be skating without Poison Princess, who has been a big part of their defense in the past; pack elements such as Lucretia McEvil, HeineQueen, Rebel Shell and CyKosis will be looking to firm up the MRDV defense.

The Uncivil Warriors from River City haven't gotten quite as much track time as their busy all-star team. Although they opened up their year with a solid 130-58 victory over New River Valley (Roanoke, VA), they lost a close rematch 115-104 and then were defeated in April by Wilmington City, 139-77.

This iteration of the Uncivil Warriors features a couple of players with A-team experience in Raci Lords and Paris Kills, but most of the roster hasn't been seen too much in interleague play.

Fanny Harmer -1 // Lucretia McEvil 22 // Liz Dexic 13 // Skid Ho 10 // Rebel Shell 19 // Stun Hun 9 // Cykosis 86 // Foxy Horror 1337 // HeineQueen 24oz // Crampbone 3.14 // Kim D'Kay 12 // Poli G. Gammy >2 // Harper 340 // Chestica 3 // Scars & Strife 1776

Billi Badass // Mizz Monstah 61686 // Morgan Le Slay // Psycho Seamtress 11 // Busta Hymen // Raci Lords 3 // Battlerina // Bitchin' MicSleazy HTTP 404 // Lucifer Ball // Paris Kills 69

Go Homicide!

Good Luck boys, i hope all those late tuesday night scrimmages pay off. I will cheering for you.

Go Everybody!

Homicide. Dirty Dozen. Seriously, how am I supposed to root for someone in this game? Go, everybody!

Two Games Too Close to Call

Two great games and a car show! Any chance of getting halftime scores posted?

That's difficult.

If someone tweets the score, I can enter it into DerbyMatic (after I get home from a scrimmage with URG). For it to show up on the site, someone else would have to code that specially. Read: Sorry, not this time.

I'm not sure if automated displays of halftime scores are something that's in the plans for the next version of DNN. I'd like it to be, because that might offer leagues an incentive to put their halftime scores out there. A LOT of the bouts I enter halftime scores for end up having some kind of comeback by a "second half team," sometimes ending up in a win, sometimes in a closer than expected margin.

Honestly, I'd love to see us offer visibility to period scores in general. The banked track folks and OSDA do quarters, and there's Renegade leagues and some others still doing three 20s here and there. TXRD is the only one of these who really gives anything past final scores. A shame, really.

These are going to be some

These are going to be some seriously exciting bouts. I wish I could be there.

Yay MDRV!!!

Yes, Go Mason Dixon! Go River City! We love 'em both!!!

Dutchland's B-team, The Blitz, has played both these squads and had a great time. Mason Dixon came to play a full length game in April; The Blitz faced the Uncivil Warriors in a 30 minute challenge bout at ECE in June.

Rumor has it that this is Skid's last bout wiht Mason Dixon...she's moving to Lancaster, PA and will be transferring to the local league there *grin*

It's about time!

Yeah, we only had to have like 8 people transfer from Dutchland to other teams before we could get 1 to come in!!! Thanks for pointing it out though...I guess I can't whine anymore ;)

Yes, yes, the rumors are true...

Sad to leave MDRV, but so excited to go Dutch! :D Ha, and Justice, you will be glad to know that I am finally changing my number...to you know what!

Also, just want to make a correction, the ladies are actually playing first to be followed by the mens bout. Also noteworthy is the fact that we are co-hosting the event with the Hub City Cruisers and from 1-4pm there will be a car show in the parking lot. Basically this will be a good freakin time. So, I wanna see all your mugs there! xoxo

Can't Wait!

Seriously, I've been looking forward to this bout for months. PVRD is full of some of the classiest guys and gals I've ever met, and they have some incredible talent on the team. If last September's bout was any indication, this will be a close one!

Two small corrections: Brutus Priest isn't exactly new, and played last time we went out there, but under a different name (Ick-a-bod Pain). Also, Methrace is not yet rostered for this bout - but we expect great things from him down the road!

This is going a blast our team has really improved so much.
I just want to give skid ho a shout out "girl you rocked our team really good thanks for all the time and effort that you put in. I learned a lot from you and I'm happy for you and your number change to!"

super super excited!

I am super excited for our new transfer! It's going to be so much fun skating with Skid she's really an awesome player both defensively and as a jammer. Very nimble and effective. So yes Cuervo your whining rights have been cut momentarily <3. I'm really excited to watch the boys play too, Virginia Slim is always a jammer i enjoy watching on that team.

!

go everyone! I'm sure it's going to be amazing!
