STERLING, VA -- The Baltimore / Washington area finally gets a roller derby rivalry to call its own as Baltimore's #11th-ranked Charm City heads down to visit their closest neighbors, unranked DC.

DC is a fairly new addition to the WFTDA, having entered in March of this year, and have only two official bouts to their name, both losses -- a 161-48 loss to #22 Dominion in July and a 112-72 loss to unranked Harrisburg earlier this month. (They do have a couple of non-WFTDA wins under their belt -- a narrow 63-62 win over Dutchland in November 2007, and a 95-83 triumph over River City in July.)

The all-star crew from DC is noteworthy for the variety of sizes and styles on the roster -- there are particularly tall, hard hitters in Trampon, Six5onSkates and Phang, diminutive but dynamic firebrands Meatball, Guantanamo Babe and ex-Carolina skater Eris Discordia, and compact, sturdy elements in Condoleeza Slice and Hooah!Girl that can be deployed effectively in the pack and on the jam line.

The more experienced Charm City comes into this bout just two weeks away from their first tournament experience, as they'll be entering October 10-12th's Eastern Regional tournament in Madison as the 6 seed. The Baltimore ladies have established a impressive record in their second season as an all-star crew, having gone 6-2 in the past year to rise from #22 to #11 in the rankings.

Charm City enters this game with a tight 13-player roster that is likely going to be very similar to their Regionals crew. Missing from the core roster willing be the lanky Reckless Ndangernment. Frenzy Lohan, who returned to the all-star roster in their recent defeat of the Carolina Bootleggers, plays her first WFTDA bout since April 2007, while original all-star Rosie the Rioter continues her iron-woman reputation as the only member to have played in all 18 all-star bouts to date.
